Raised between his Dad in Alabama and his Mom in Georgia, meaningful music permeates all of Cody Bolden’s childhood memories. His Mom would sing folk songs like Man of Constant Sorrow by Dan Tyminski and blues songs like Sitting on the Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding while cooking breakfast each morning. His Dad believed the radio should always be on and dialed to an Outlaw Country Station that played the likes of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Alan Jackson, and Hank Williams, Jr.
Without even realizing it, the seed of storytelling through song was sewn and Cody found himself drawn to music that has something to say.
At 27 years old, Cody Bolden decided to pick up a guitar and set some of his own stories to music. He began writing and performing original songs about the things that are important to him: bikes, beer, and bullshitting. Over several years, Cody honed his skills on acoustic and electric guitar, which led him to form the Atlanta-based Cody Bolden and The Roadhands, a Country Band with a funky flair.
Cody Bolden and The Roadhands released their first full-length album, Roadhand, in June 2021. Titles include Lost the Top, Screendoor, and Coming Back Home, songs about drinking, leaving, and returning home again, respectively. Roadhand has led Cody Bolden to become one of the most sought-after artists at festivals across the Southeast, including The Tennessee Music and Motorcycle Revival in Nashville, Tennessee, and as Rising Stars at Floyd Fest in Floyd, Virginia. Notable Atlanta-based venues Cody Bolden has played include The Alliance Theater, Aisle 5, and Smith’s Olde Bar.
Cody Bolden is currently writing and recording new music in Atlanta, Georgia while touring across the South. When asked to describe his style of music, he is known to say, “I like to play Country Music you’ll most likely listen to.” His new album, Keep On Working, released in the winter of 2023.
